State Home Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay reported, “In an exertion towards breaking the chain, state government declares total lockdown for two days every week notwithstanding the wide based lockdown in control zones.”

The West Bengal government on Monday reported complete lockdown over the state for two days consistently in the midst of a spike in coronavirus COVID-19 cases. This comes notwithstanding the wide based lockdown in regulation zones. In the current week, Thursday and Saturday will be seen as a total lockdown.

The government provided a coordinated helpline numbers- – 1800313444222, 033 23412600; for telemedicine- – 033 23576001; and 033 40902929 for rescue vehicle.

Bandyopadhyay said that there are reports of network spread in specific zones following which the choice was taken.
