UGG Boots - How it all Started
The Aussie classic Ugg boot has come a long way. Ugg boots are now championed by Hollywood stars like Eva Longoria, Jennifer Anniston and Sarah Jessica Parker. The sheep skin boots simple comfort have become a world wide phenomenon with the rich and famous.
In 2010 there were $799 million worth of ustralian Ugg boots sold. It was back in 1971 that a surfer Shane Stedman invented the Ugg boot. He originally registered the name Ugh. Twelve years later he sold the rights to the Americancompany Deckers for ￡10,000. The deal also included three three pairs of Ugg boots for Stedman for each year of his life.
Stedman says he has no regrets, he had no intention of moving to America and give up his beloved Sydney and beloved surf. He told Britain's Daily Mail that with the money he put his kids through private Ugg Outlet school and is comfortable knowing "They are perfect and I am proud to have come up with them,"
Stedman designed the boots to keepsurfers' feet warm when getting out of the Australain surf on chilly days. .Mr Stedman explained, "The sea is bloody cold in the Aussie winter ... I used to wear football jerseys to keep them (feet) warm," .
In a lesson in keeping life in perspective he reflected "I'll never give up Sydney and surfing. It's my life."
