Benefits of Merino Wool
By margotkutcherz @ 11:04 AM :: 19 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Family

Merino wool comes from the merino sheep roaming the rugged Southern Alps of New Zealand. It has several important qualities that make it one of the best natural fibre materials. Merino wool has proven to be much better than ordinary wool and has more complex properties. The fibre consists of overlapping scales and water resistant and highly absorbent qualities. Merino wool has the ability to absorb and release moisture ten times better than other fibres. It does not feel clammy or wet and has the ability to react to temperature to be warm or cool. The valuable properties of merino Wool make it an excellent material for baby swaddling blankets. The fabric is silky and soft with stretching properties and feels comfortable on the sensitive skin.

The air pockets in the fabric can trap air and lock in body heat. It is a breathable material that comes in use for blankets, baby nightwear and other baby wear. Merino wool is also used for base layers due to its high insulation and moisture transportation. The material is biodegradable and annually renewable. It also has properties of fire resistance and UV protection. The fabric is 100% natural and has a very low allergy risk. Merino wool is capable of forming a micro climate around the body to adapt to changing body temperature. It tries to balance the external and internal temperatures by absorbing and releasing moisture. The elasticity of merino makes it ideal for swaddling blankets and help children sleep better. It is one of the most comfortable materials available.

Swaddling your babies in merino wool help them to sleep better and longer at night. Premature or low-weight babies gain weight faster by sleeping in merino wool. The garment can fit snugly and is ideal for baby wear. Swaddling blankets and baby sleeping bags made from merino wool have proven to be healthier options for babies and toddlers. The material transports perspiration away from the skin and absorbs moisture without making you feel damp. This natural fibre used for baby swaddles, blankets and sleeping bags help avoid Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The garment is long lasting due to its durable qualities. The shrink resistant properties make it machine washable and the stain and odour resistance in fibres prevent frequent washing. Merino wool is also wrinkle resistant.

At Merino Kids you can buy original merino swaddling blankets for newborns, infants and toddlers and organic baby bedding for healthier sleeping. All merino products are quality assured and are made from real merino wool.
