A guide to corporate philanthropy and charitable giving
By JakeEdmund @ 5:24 AM :: 33 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Charity

Corporate philanthropy is where businesses give a percent of their profits or donate some of their products to a charitable organisation. These charities heavily rely on donations such as these in order to stay afloat and support their chosen cause. It can be a quicker and bigger way of raising money for those in need, as individual donations from consumers can take a while to add up. Because the businesses are likely to promote where some of their profits will be donated to, it also helps to boost awareness of the cause amongst the public, creating a domino effect and encouraging individuals to also support the charity and give money as well. It can have a huge benefit on the businesses, because more people are likely to buy their products or use their services over some of their competitors, as they are giving back to the community and those in need. They will be seen as credible and thoughtful by the consumers, so their profits should hopefully boost.

Anyone can take part in charitable giving . There are a number of different ways to raise money for a non profit organisation. Donations to charities can be given on the street via collection pots, which are sometimes also displayed at the tills in shops, offices or public places. You can also give money online via PayPal, credit card or direct debit. This can be an ongoing thing or a one off, depending on what you prefer and how much you can afford. Don’t forget to include the Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer as this will add on some extra money for the charity.

Sponsored runs and other activities are also a great way to raise money, especially if you can’t afford to donate it yourself, but would still like to give your time and hard work. A sponsored silence or a non uniform day in schools is also a good way for children to fundraise. Many schools set up fetes and fun days, such as sports days or book sales, where they may donate all or some of the profits to a charitable organisation.

Some people like to organise an event, such as a fashion show or concert, in order to raise money. You can do this by getting bands to play for free and hiring a venue for cheap and donating all the ticket sales to the charity. This will encourage other people to get involved in helping out and also create awareness about the cause. It could even get press attention, so this is an even better way of getting it into the newspapers and reaching even more people. There are many different ways to raise money, and getting as many people involved as you can, can really help.
